Trafalgar wins GOLD!

We are delighted to announce that we, Trafalgar School, have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year included Year 7 boys football team reaching the semi finals of the Hampshire cup. We hosted a city wide Year 9 netball tournament, whilst Year 7 participated in a netball tournament at Milton Cross. Trafalgar Hosted the first city wide Trampolining competition for KS3 & KS4.

A Group of students were invited to Wimbledon for the day with the Youth Sport Trust as part of the Set for Success programme. Our Sports Leaders have supported Mary Rose School with 3 of their various movement festivals throughout the year.
Our students participated in various Rugby tournaments for Year 7,8 and 9 and we hosted a year 5&6 Netball festival to build relationships with local primary schools.

With young people competing in a range of local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to all students who have participated in extra curricular clubs and fixtures, our brilliant sports leaders and all of the staff who have run these activities.

We look forward to applying once again in 2024!
