If you want to help your child make the right choices at 14, 16 and 18, support them through the Careerpilot website, aimed at young people and also the Parent Zone, aimed towards parents and carers.
Careerpilot is a free website helping 13—19 year olds in the South of England plan their future study and work and has a lot of useful information for young people and parents. The Careerpilot Parent Zone can help you as a parent/carer get answers to the career questions you want to ask about:
• Choices at 14, 16 and 18
• Further Education College
• Apprenticeships and Traineeships
• Higher Education (including HE provided at local colleges)
• Job sectors and growth
• Funding and support.

Students are entitled to careers education, information, advice and guidance which is both impartial and confidential. At Key Stage 4 students are able to access an interview with an independent careers advisor. For students identified within priority groups, provision is made through the school’s careers leader Ms Lucy Clark, Assistant Headteacher, who can be contacted through the school phone number (023 9269 3521) or via email: lclark@trafalgarschool.org.uk. Alternatively, you can get in touch with Miss Lucie Passmore, Head of Student Enrichment: lpassmore@trafalagrschool.org.uk.
Students can book a meeting with Nancy Austwick, our professional careers advisor from Portsmouth City Council. Nancy is available in school Tuesday and Friday can be contacted via email on nancy.austwick@portsmouthcc.gov.uk There is also the opportunity for students to have access to careers advice from independent and local institutions, including Portsmouth College, Highbury College, South Downs & Havant College, Fareham College and Chichester College.
Strong ties are made with three local Universities through in-school presentations, events, campus visits and published online information. If you would like to hear more about this, please get in touch!
